Sherm and Wanda Olsrud have built their lives around helping others achieve their dreams. The couple is very quietly and graciously changing the world, one scholar at a time.

One such scholar is theatre arts major Jimmy Garcia ’10. The demands on Jimmy’s time are onerous—auditions, rehearsals, coursework, and parenting his two daughters. As an Olsrud scholar, he is able to focus on his studies, maintaining a 3.8 GPA while finding a few precious hours to spend with his children. Jimmy’s experience has inspired him to pursue a career in teaching. He hopes to become a university professor and share his love of theatre with future generations.

Jimmy says his scholarship is the biggest gift he could possibly imagine in his life right now. “It has given me and my family time together,” he says. “Time is the one resource that can never be replenished or regained. Once it is spent, it’s gone. I get to spend time with my family. Thank you, thank you, and thank you.”
