Paul Adalian, Dean of Hannon Library

Paul Adalian, SOU’s library dean, doesn’t fit the librarian stereotype.
“People tell me, ‘You should be a standup comedian,’“ he says. “I like to engage people, and I like to have fun.”
Since arriving on campus in August 2009, Paul has lightened library life with student sleepovers during Quiet Week, lunchtime concerts, and art exhibits—including the ten foot long Swamphorse, a sculpture by student Trisha Johansen that is now a permanent resident of the library.
Fun-loving Paul is seriously committed to making Hannon Library part of the fabric of campus life. He’s also dedicated to supporting faculty and celebrating their work. “I want to have a recognition wall displaying faculty accomplishments,“ says Paul.
Before coming to SOU, Paul was the library dean at California State University (CSU) Channel Islands for six years. Paul earned a BA from Stanislaus State College, an MA in history from Loyola University of Los Angeles, and an MA in library science from Syracuse University.
