Michael Geisen was recently named the 58th National Teacher of the Year. He teaches science at Crook County Middle School in Prineville, Oregon. Michael earned his master of arts in teaching (MAT) with a science endorsement from SOU in 2001. He began his year as a full-time national and international spokesperson for education on June 1, 2008.
Mike is a leader at the school and district. Mike encourages fellow teachers to teach innovatively by using movement, music, technology, and humor to help students enjoy the learning process. Mike is the first teacher from Oregon to win since the National Teacher of the Year Award since the program was started in 1952.
